Victorian Scottish Agate Citrine Garnet Shield Brooch c.1866

€357,95

A striking Victorian Scottish “pebble” shield brooch, this crowned heraldic design is richly detailed in Sterling Silver with crisp engraving, thistle-like flourishes and beaded borders. Segmental inlays of Agate, Bloodstone and Carnelian trace the perimeter with beautiful natural colour, while a diagonal band is set with gleaming Citrines and a central Garnet for a bold pop of jewel tones.

The compact, sculptural form and openwork construction give wonderful depth, enhanced by the refined hand-finishing throughout. An English registration lozenge confirms the date to 23rd February 1866, and the original horizontal pin with open C-catch completes this quintessentially Victorian Scottish jewel.
