MEASUREMENTS: Rubies are approx. 2.6mm in diameter, weighing approx. 0.66ct combined.
Diamond is approx. 2.7mm long x 2.2mm wide, weighing approx. 0.10ct.
Band tapers from 7mm wide at the shoulders to 2mm wide at the back.
Weight: 2.4g.
MATERIALS: Tests as 9ct Gold, Silver settings, 0.66ct Natural Rubies (no indication of heat), 0.10ct Old Mine-Cut Diamond.
STAMPS: Inscribed inside; " d.30t January 1844". Possibly a mourning ring but because of the lack of the "ob" precursor (for obituary, which was common in mourning jewellery of this era), the ring is much more likely commemorating an important date, such as a birthday or special occasion.
HALLMARKS: Since we have dated this piece as being made before 1950, a hallmark is not required in order for it to be sold in line with UK hallmarking legislation.
PACKAGING: Your order will be gift-wrapped free of charge in a Lillicoco cardboard box made from recycled materials, tied with a ribbon.
Condition
VERY GOOD: This Georgian 9ct Gold natural Ruby Diamond cluster ring is in very good condition. The gemstones are all present and original to the piece, with only minor abrasions to some of the Rubies' facets. The structural integrity of the ring has stood the test of time, there is some general wear consistent with age, which can easily be forgiven when considering the piece is almost two centuries old. With this in mind, this Georgian Ruby Diamond ring is a magnificent find and is a must-have piece!
